Los Colores de Mi Tierra

As seen on our TikTok account, we decided to re-create this amazing song's lyrics into canvas paintings as an homage to its greatness. Like any true puertorrican could tell you, this dearly beloved jingle has been considered by many as a second national anthem.

Its origins

Back in the 80's and 90's, an ad for a paint company (Harris Paint) used to play in PR cinemas across the island with the sole purpose of highlighting their paint colors by comparing them to the island's greatest beauties. Example of that: "ocean's turquoise".

A visit to the movie theater would guarantee you a moment of pride whenever "Colores de mi Tierra" came into the giant screen showing huge cans of paints. Now, years after it stopped playing,  this song represents more than just an old ad from when we were younger.  Everytime a boricua  starts to hear this song it'll take only a few seconds to recognize the familiar tropical sound of "los tambores" and "trompetas" to cover them in full nostalgia.

Personal fun fact: While painting, I couldn't help playing this song in my head over and over for inspiration.
